
City Tour
The route begins in the city’s historical Plaza de Armas, surrounded by the churches of San Francisco and the Cathedral, whose facades are characterized by their baroque style, we will also visit the Sanctuary of the Virgin of the Dolores, the Rescue Room, the place where Atahualpa Inca offered two rooms of silver and one of gold in exchange for his freedom in 1532. We will go to the the Church of Belén, and visit Archeological, Ethnic and Medical museums. Then we will go up the Hill of Santa Apolonia, from where all the splendor of the Valley of Cajamarca can be appreciated. Here you can also see the old ceremonial altar, commonly refererred to as the Chair of the Inca.Ventanillas De Otusco
Excursion towards the northeast end of the valley, visiting the old Hacienda Tres Molinos, the Garden of Hortensias, Fundo Los Alps. We will be able to taste different varieties locally produced cheese, and the sweet manjar blanco, as well as go for a horseback ride. Later we will take a stroll across the suspension bridge on the Chonta River. We will visit Ventanillas de Otusco, an historic funeral center of stonecutting forthe Caxamarca culture, constructed of stone blocks.
Collpa
Collpa is one of the most recognized haciendas in the country. It still maintains its large old house, artificial lagoon, stables, and its small chapel. We will be present at the “calling of the cows by their name” for the daily milking, soon after to start off for the district of Llacanora and to take a hike to the waterfalls; later we will arrive at the Baths of the Inca, the most important bath of northern Peru, where we will visit El Pozo del Inca and Los Perolitos (natural thermo-medicinal water sources with a temperature of 170°F).
Cumbe Mayo
In the route of ascent towards the archaeological complex of Cumbe Mayo, we will visit the Lookout point of Bellavista, from where all the city and valley can be seen. We will continue our route past Layzón, an old construction of the Caxamarca culture. After travelling about 20 km, we arrive at Cumbe Mayo, characterized by its stony landscape in which, with the aid of your imagination, we will be able to find different animals and petrified characters. One of the most important works of the region is the Aqueduct carved in rock, whose function was to transfer waters of the Pacific slope down to the Atlantic slope, 3000 years ago. We will also visit the Ceremonial Sacrificial Stone, the Ceremonial Altars and the Sanctuary.
Porcon
Before arriving at Porcón, we will visit the community of Huambocancha, there we will observe how the famous stonemasons make carvings of marble granite, converting stones into beautiful sculptures. Ascending to an altitude of 3000 meters (9850 ft) above sea level, where we will be in an unusual microclimate, as a result of the 10000 hectares (25000 acres) of pine plantations that characterize the Agrarian Cooperative of Atahualpa Jerusalem. Here the Porcón is in a comfortable climate. We will go on a hike through the forest and visit the vicuna and deer park, and will see some specimens from various regions of Peru, such as pumas, papagayos, monkeys, and many unique birds. We will witness the calling of cows by name and their milking by machine. Finally we will have to a look at the sawmills and looms where the locals demonstrate their skill.
City By Night
The Tour begins at 9 p.m., at which time we will go to the best restaurant of the city; an appetizer, a bottle of wine and live music will be the perfect ingredients for an unforgettable evening. Then we will go in private transportation up to the Viewpoint of Bellavista, from where we will have a beautiful nocturnal view of the city. Then we will go for a stroll through some neighborhoods, and through the main tourist places of the city to arrive at the best discoteca. Finally, and sadly, the fun must end...... our return to the hotel.
