Our Team
The Andex Adventure team is composed of enthusiastic, efficient and professional people, all experts in their area and willing to help you and make the most out of your visit to Cusco and Peru.
Our Guides
We are fully conscious that an excellent guide is key to make your trip an unforgettable experience, which is why we are more demanding with our staff than any tourist could be. Our team is composed of some of the best guides in the region, all officially licensed and owning Tourism Degrees. The superiority of our team is backed both by excellent tourist reports, which are available at our office in Cusco, and years of experience. All our guides are fluent in English, but we also have guides proficient in French, Italian, German and Japanese. Our team has also been trained in first-aid and rescue and is regularly updated through seminars and courses in their respective fields.
Our Cooks
The cook is responsible for ensuring high quality meals on time and manages the team of porters.
An adequate diet both in its quality and quantity is essential in high-energy consuming trips such as the adventure programs we run. Despite its short lifetime, ENIGMA has already become renowned for its outstanding menus and food quality. The secret lies in the careful selection of our team of cooks, whose top-quality restaurant background provides an unequalled touch to all our meals. We do not have set menus since our cooks are essentially creative people who try to innovate and surprise our clients through delicious dishes in every trip. The agency provides the tools for a constant up dating of our cooks’ knowledge in both Peruvian and international cuisine.
Additionally, the cook manages the team of porters and / or horsemen. Every person has a role in the team and is very aware of its responsibility, and only an excellent logistic will allow an outstanding
Our Porters and Horsemen
Porters and horsemen are an essential element in any trek organization.
The porters carry all the collective equipment, some depart early before the group to make sure we get a good location in the campsite and to have everything ready and set by the time you get to the lunch spot or campsite. Porters carry up to 20 kg of load according to the Inca Trail regulation, which we fully respect. In all treks other than the Inca Trail, wranglers are in charge of the horses or mules that carry the equipment.
Andex has also become renowned as being one of the very few agencies providing one of the best treatments to its porters. Our porters are not just numbers; they are our friends. We provide our team with excellent meals along the route, a convenient accommodation, a life insurance and, most importantly, with a never delayed high wage that we believe they totally deserve. That is why you will be able to perceive the difference between our team and others: our people are happy, enthusiastic, extremely helpful and simply exceptional. They are proud of working for ANDEX and of their absolutely outstanding working performance. And we are also very proud of having them with us. Our porters are always welcome at our office and if you ever drop by you are sure to meet some of them chatting and joking with us.
Our Transportation Service
All the buses, vans and cars used in our services are fully reliable and comply with Peruvian safety and insurance regulations.
The transportation service assigned to each trip is adapted to the route and the group size. The vehicles used range from station wagons, for short transfers and a maximum of 2 people in the group, to vans for middle-sized groups or buses for larger groups and longer routes.
Our Programs and Itineraries
All the programs and trekking routes operated by ANDEX have been fully developed by us together with our team of guides.
Every itinerary has been checked through what we call “recognition treks” to verify route feasibility and attractiveness, campsite conditions, distances and timings, in order to be able to give you as much a fair description of what the program is going to be as possible. This is not only done when developing a new route, but rather, every itinerary is thoroughly and constantly revised through our guides’ trip reports. If we identify a possible improvement or a problem in any of the routes, we immediately modify it in order to ensure a more enjoyable experience to our clients.
We are always in constant search of new routes of spectacular beauty and little tourist affluence to share with our most demanding clients. We will generally try to avoid tourist areas that have been over-exploited or, when operating them, we will do it in such a way that we minimize the contact with the tourist crowds and thus allow for a more authentic experience, promoting a positive cultural exchange with local people and environment.
