ITINERARY DESCRIPTION
ARGENTINA
Argentina is a land of contrasts, from the vast plains of the east to the Andes in the West where Aconcagua, the highest peak of the Western Hemisphere at 6,959 m, towers above the other mountains. The variety of landscape ranges from the high plateau of the Northwest –with its deserts, valleys, gorges and brightly coloured hills- to the lakes, forests, glaciers, steppe, mountains and cliffs of Patagonia. From the wetlands, lagoons, waterfalls and subtropical rainforest of the Northeast, to the expanse of flat Pampas in Buenos Aires Province and the rolling hills of Cordoba.
Day 1 – Puerto Madryn (-/-/-)
At the arrival in Trelew you will be received by one of our representatives, who will take you to the chosen hotel in Puerto Madryn and will help you with the check-in procedures.

Day 2 – Puerto Madryn (B/-/-)
Breakfast will be served at the hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel you have the full day tour to the Valdes Peninsula. The tour begins early in the morning when we pick you up from your hotel. You tour around the city to the Valdes Peninsula, declared World Wild Heritage by UNESCO.
Before you enter the Ameghino Isthmus, a narrow natural bridge which connects the peninsula with the continent, you will stop at El Desempeño, doorway to the natural reserve where the entrance fee has to be paid.
As you cross the isthmus you pass the panoramic view point where in its narrowest part you can observe, simultaneously, the two gulfs that surround Peninsula Valdes: Nuevo and San José Gulfs. Few kilometers later, you stop at the Visitor Center, which gives you a glimpse of the most important natural history aspects of the peninsula.
WHALE WATCHING SAILING
The boats leave from the beach of Puerto Piramides. Once the boat reaches the deeper sea, the captain stops the engine, and waits until the whales get closer.
Some whales like to swim under the boat, but there is nothing to worry about since they have absolute control of space. The most sublime moment is when the whale flips out of the water and plunge back into the sea with their thirty tons, making a huge splash. To complete this spectacular view, they sometimes blow water through the two blowholes located in the head (spiracles), and you can see a V-shaped cloud of water. Others lift their tail high out of the water or hit their flukes down into the surface. The first whales arrive in April to the Golfo Nuevo and Golfo San José to mate, and by June or July there are hundreds of them. The best moment is in October and November, when the population rises and the weather conditions are better.

Day 3 – Puerto Madryn (B/BL/-)
Breakfast will be served at the hotel.
Today, you will depart on a guided tour to Punta Tombo. This is the most important Magellan Penguins colony within Patagonia. Half a million of them arrive at this place every year in order to breed. The first penguins arrive in September and stay here up to mid March but the best season to see them is after November, once the babies are born. One of the greatest features of this Reservation is the fact that you can literally walk among the penguins, follow them and learn their habits, see how they feed their babies, the rites of pairing, the fights for the defense of their territories, how they build their nests, and the restless walks they take to and from the sea. In other words, you can closely watch these tender little animals like you never imagined you could.
