Day 01 Sunday
7:00 a.m. Departure from Iquitos by chartered speedboat. Pass the spectacular meeting of the two rivers - Ucayali & Marañon – that come together to form the Amazon River. In 40 minutes land at the river town of Requena. Transfer and brief tour of this bustling type frontier town.
4:00 p.m. – Sail on the M/V Amazon Explorer, a 12 passenger, 6 suite mini-cruise ship. Briefing by head guide.
5:30 p.m. – Welcome drink on upper deck.
8:00 p.m. – Dinner and sail overnight up river. Excellent star gazing, shooting stars and the Southern Cross – weather permitting.
10:00 p.m. – Excursion by small boat to view nocturnal animals and caiman.
Day 02 Monday
6:00 a.m. – Early morning bird watching excursion in your new jungle paradise.
7:30 a.m. – Breakfast on board.
8:00 a.m. – Depart from ship for a full day of exploring along the Pacaya River in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. This reserve has a vast number of monkeys (13 species), sloths (2 species), birds (449 species) and other wildlife.
12:00 p.m. - Picnic/hot lunch served.
4:00 p.m. – Return to ship. Sail on up river.
8:00 p.m. – Dinner on board.
9:00 p.m. – Happy Hour with music in the bar. Lecture by your guide. Small boat excursion for those who wish.
Day 03 Tuesday
6:00 a.m. – Bird watching excursion. See multiple pairs of macaws, flights of parrots, Horned Screamers and more.
7:30 a.m. – Breakfast on board.
8:00 a.m. – Depart ship for full day excursion in a seldom visited area of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve at Cocha Punga. As this area has had very few visitors, there has been little impact on this area. Exellent bird and animal observation.
12:30 p.m. – Picnic/hot lunch served. Continue exploring in the afternoon.
4:00 p.m. – Return to ship. Sail down river.
8:00 p.m. – Dinner on board.
9:00 p.m. – Night excursion by small boat to a small lake to observe caiman and other nocturnal animals. |
